After the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina and the manmade explosion at the vampire summit, everyone—human and otherwise—is stressed, including Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse, who is trying to cope with the fact that her boyfriend Quinn has gone missing.
It's clear that things are changing—whether the weres and vamps of her corner of Louisiana like it or not. And Sookie—Friend to the Pack and blood-bonded to Eric Northman, leader of the local vampire community—is caught up in the changes.
In the ensuing battles, Sookie faces danger, death, and once more, betrayal by someone she loves. And when the fur has finished flying and the cold blood finished flowing, her world will be forever altered.
You know what I absolutely hate about Sookie's books? Is that I wait a year for each one to come out, and I don't have the self-control to make the book last more than a couple hours.
If a book can be inhaled, that's what I did with From Dead to Worse.
Needless to say, I absolutely loved it. I'm utterly amazed at Charlaine Harris' ability to keep each book fresh and oh-so-good. I did like FDtW more Definitely Dead, only because it wasn't so thick with vampire politics. A LOT happened in DD and it was sometimes a bit much. And although a huge amount of stuff went on in FDtW, I wasn't mired down by it.
So after the big explosion in Definitely Dead, Quinn, Sookie's weretiger, has gone missing. It has been weeks and there's no word from him. At first she was worried, but now she's starting to get mad. And her roommate Amelia's mentor has come calling - because Amelia did a bad bad thing. (It's really funny, imo). On top of all that, there are two very important people that enter Sookie's life - I can't wait to see what happens with these characters, they are VERY interesting.
There are also some worrisome things going on in the Were and Vampire communities and Sookie wishes more than anything to stay out of it. But knowing Sookie as we do, that's not going to happen. And there are a few revelations about the two main vampires in Sookie's life - Bill Compton and Eric Northman.
I'm very very happy with what's going on with Eric Northman. :P
And then there's Sam, Sookie's boss and shapeshifter. I have to say, this far into the series, Sam is Sookie's rock. He's there for her and I just love him.
Excellent addition to the series. A

TELL ME! No. Don't. NO TELL ME. NO.
Ok. I'm buying this today and locking myself in my room.
I love Eric.
I love this series so much! I didn't realize it had already come out.
I still haven't started this series but I will soon I promise! It sounds really good and just the kind of thing I like. I know what you mean about inhaling certain authors books. I am the same with Anne Bishop. I get to the last 10 pages and then don't want to finish it so it isn't over. I have had to resort to spacing my reading out of her novels by months as I get so upset when I reach the last word.

Lisabea-Me too! Although I'm of the pervy sort who'd like Sookie to have more than one man. LOL
Ladytink-Isn't that always a pleasant surprise? At least you're not gnashing your teeth over release dates. I'm already thinking of the next book. I really should slow down. *sigh*
Rhinoa-I completely understand about AB. I absorbed the Black Jewels Trilogy. I was on the edge of my seat with the last book. I read those way too fast too. Go figure. LOL
Ames, I love the new layout!
I didn't read the review though cause I am about to start with book 1 now. Yeah, I know I am late. What else is new?
I love this series too but I spend the first part of the book trying to remember what happened in the rest of the books.
Ana-Thanks! And I don't care if you're late, as long as you come to the party. LOL The Sookie-sookie partay. haha
Kris-Really? I think I've reread this series so many times it's hardwired into my brain or something. LOL I just love this series that much. I'm strange, I know. :P
Ohhhhhhhhh, I am SO reading this.
