Re-read Challenge: Hard Day's Knight by Katie MacAlister

**I am alive - but barely hanging in there. :( I was on the road and it gave me a killer headache.**

So I chose to reread Katie MacAlister's Hard Day's Knight, a contemporary romance that I read a few years ago.

I decided on this one because the subject matter always stuck with me and I remember that it was funny.

Here's the blurb:
Men in tights never looked so good. At least that's Pepper Marsh's first impression when she attends a jousting competition at the Rennaissance Faire in Ontario. An unemployed and unattached software engineer, Pepper has had enough of the computer geeks in her dating pool. She years for a man of yore. A man not afraid to stare death in the face and laugh at it. A man with a big lance...

Pepper's cousin has promised to find her a knight in shining armor, on the condition that Pepper walk around in wench garb. With her mind on her embarrassingly revealing bodice, Pepper promptly steps into the path of an oncoming steed...and is rescued by sexy Englishman Walker McPhail. Once the wild man of jousting, Walker has let a brush with death keep him out of the ring. Though his emotions are clad in almost impenetrable armor, Pepper finds Walker infuriatingly sexy--and she's about to go medieval on his heart...

All right then, let's get to it. I enjoyed reading Hard Day's Knight again, but I was really annoyed by the heroine.

Pepper has decided to join the Wench League alongside her cousin at this year's Renaissance Fair that is also hosting an international jousting competition. Pepper has just been let go from her job and her cousin has bragged about her matchmaking prowess so Pepper decides to give it a shot, let her cousin set her up with some hunky knight.

Kay, that's all I'm giving you. LOL There's also a sub-plot involving some tampering with some equipment and lovers revenge.

Although the heroine was annoying (she does improve) the rest of the cast of characters made this book a fun read.  I had a few chuckles.  B

LOL, Wench League. Why do I have a feeling I should be signing you and Chantal up? LOL :)

Glad you enjoyed it. I read another one by Katie MacAlister, the yellow cover... I think it was something like the Corset Diaries. Meh. Do you know if this one is better?

The wench league? Nath is right, I'm in! lol

I like this author, this is one of the few books of hers that I have not read. I'll look for it.

Aww...poor thing! (((ames)))

I remember this book. It was enjoyable, as I recall. The name McPhail makes me giggle. :-D And I want to join the Wench League, too.

Wench League? I'd do it. LOL. I've read one by this author and I didn't care for it much.

I've read her Aisling Gray series which is fun, but not any of her other titles. She's one of the few authors of comedy/romance or comedy/paranormal (I don't know if this is really an accurate description) that I've enjoyed. She makes me laugh without making me groan (if you know what I mean.)

It sounds like a fun read! I like the idea of the wench league. lol

Hope you feel better soon. :-)

Nath-I liked the Corset Diaries - but it's not as good as Hard Day's Knight.

Seneca-I haven't read all of KMs books, but for the most part, I enjoyed the ones I did read. Except for Blow Me Down.

C2-Yeah, the wench league sounds like fun. And Pepper's cat, I liked him too.

Thanks Kelly!

Izzy-Do you remember which one you read?

Renee-I haven't read her AG series. And thanks, I hope I feel better soon too. LOL

OH, fun, I never knew this book was about a Renaissance Fair. I think they are sort of fascinating. Hmm, this sounds like a fun read for when I'm not in one of those moods where heroines might annoy me.
